Museums in New York Open on Mondays

(revised and updated 2018) Several museums in New York City are open on Mondays, including MoMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney.

This list has been expanded to include free or pay-what-you-wish hours.

The Whitney Museum of American Art is among New York City museums open on Mondays.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art at 100 Fifth Avenue, one of the largest art museums in the world, is open Mondays.

The Met Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park is also open 7 days a week.
(Please note that The Met Breuer is closed on Mondays.)

Free or pay-what-you wish-museums at all times include the American Folk Art Museum, American Museum of Natural History, Bronx Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Queens Museum of Art.

Museums with specific days and hours:

Frick Collection
First Friday evening of the month (except September and January), from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Wednesdays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pay what you wish.

ICP
Pay what you wish on Thursdays starting at 6 PM (suggested minimum donation: $5)

Morgan Library & Museum
Admission is free on Fridays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

MoMA
Admission is free on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Neue Galerie
Free admission on the First Friday of every month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Whitney Museum
Fridays, 7-10 p.m.
